Peacefully, on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at the Dauphin Regional Health Centre, Orville Recknell passed away at the age of 90 years with his family by his side.Orville was born on May 15, 1919 at home on the family farm in Makinak to parents Frank and Dora Recknell (nee Collison). Following his education, Orville began work on the family farm.

His other hobbies were working with wood and curling.

In his retirement years, he took up fishing and loved to travel.

He loved spending time with his family and loved interacting with people.Orville was predeceased by his parents, brother Willis Recknell, grandsons Christopher Mac Millan and Derek Mac Millan.He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish many fond memories his wife, Mabel of Makinak; five children, Irwin Recknell (Barb) of Makinak, Glen Recknell (Dawn) of Ochre River, Sharon Recknell (Paul) of Ste.Rose du Lac, Grant Recknell (Barb) of Makinak, Karen Schafers (Bernie) of Cold Lake, Alberta; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Grace Rye of Victoria, British Columbia; one sister-in-law Lorraine Demchuk of Winnipeg, Manitoba.There are numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and many friends. Valerie Sarens read the eulogy and Tammy Recknell was the urnbearer.Funeral services for Orville were held on Thursday, November 26, 2009 at PM from the Makinak Hall in Makinak, MB with the Rev. All of Orville’s friends are to consider themselves honorary bearers. If friends so desire, donations may be made in memory of Orville to The Manitoba Lung Association or a charity of one’s choice.
